All’s Bad That Ends Bad

ROMAN ANTHONY! I BETTER NOT SEE YOU IN SOUTHIE THIS WEEKEND!

The Roman Empire has fallen faster than it was built. Poetic.

This guy stinks. He’s a baby. He’s soft. End of article.

Oh, you want more? OK, well, New York still sucks; we just happen to be worse this time around. So much for this cinematic season our Red Sox were having.

Listen, I’m not even a huge Red Sox fan. Baseball is my fourth-favorite sport. I know a lot about the team, so my hating is not only visceral, but it’s correct. So when they started doing good, I almost stopped paying attention. That’s the God-honest truth.

But as the season was coming down the stretch, everybody could see the cracks. The Yankees just had the right mojo to break down the rest of the wall.

Thus the title: What’s so good about the season if you couldn’t even get past the Wild Card? Sure, we had watchable baseball in the height of summer, but is that all we’re looking for?

We are the Boston Red Sox. A team steeped in history and culture and, in the recent millennium, a force to be reckoned with. We can’t even get past the Wild Card now.

It starts at the top. Bad ownership and bad management.

Our three rookie sensations from a year ago are all lackluster — Roman Anthony is a dud, Marcelo Mayer is gone, and Kristian Campbell can’t even make it out of Triple-A.

Roman Anthony, you are soft. A baby would have an easier time hitting that ball. 13 HRs in your career with about 120 starts/320 games. You are a disgrace to the jersey you wear. Have fun at Loco, YOU BUM!

Contreras was probably right. You screwed up the chemistry bringing him and Story back. People might be upset that Contreras is so outspoken, but I love to see it. He’s honest and played through his injury. Leading by example, and I hope he remains on the team.

I don’t blame Chad Tracy. He was put in an impossible position and came out swinging. He earned the contract, and we as a city should have no regrets, even though the playoff performance was lackluster.

This falls on management. They were cocky when the win streak was going on. Now it’s time to EAT DIRT!

Everybody should hang their heads. Trash-ass team.

Mediocrity at its finest.

So let’s meet it head-on. Moan and groan in the offseason, don’t enjoy the Boston bars too much — I’M LOOKING AT YOU, ANTHONY! — and turn it around.

Because this city isn’t going to swallow another season of false hope.

Get with the program. Get with the times. We are turning the ship around.
